What we actually track

Every trim of every model year gets pricing, powertrain, interior, comfort, technology, driver-assistance, towing, and exterior specs, plus model-year safety and reliability ratings - around 90 data points per trim. That feeds the Family Score, a weighted 0-100 score across safety, reliability, maintenance cost, fuel economy, interior space, technology, and comfort, built specifically around what matters for family use rather than performance or luxury positioning.

Where the data comes from

Manufacturer spec sheets and press releases, NHTSA, IIHS, EPA/fueleconomy.gov, J.D. Power, and Consumer Reports. Every vehicle is researched one model at a time and cross-checked against these sources before it’s added. When a figure can't be confirmed, it’s left blank rather than estimated - see the data disclaimer for the full policy and known gaps.

Independence

No manufacturer or dealer pays for placement, and none has any input into a Family Score or a spec value - the full comparison table is the same for every vehicle in it. Full access is funded by a one-time membership fee, not by steering anyone toward a particular vehicle.
